Copy anything or take a screenshot on your Mac. Hush reads it and leaves the answer in your menu bar. Nothing pops up.

How it works

Hush
Two tools: Paste and Cut
Each has its own switch in the menu bar, and in the Hush window you open from the Dock. Use one, the other, or both.
Paste
For text. Copy it, get the answer.
- Copy anything with ⌘C: a question, a math problem, a word you don't know, a line of code.
- Hush sends it to your AI. The menu bar shows Processing... while it works, then the answer.
- Up to 4,000 characters at a time.
- Passwords from password managers and files copied in Finder are skipped.
Cut
For anything on screen. Snip it, get the answer.
- Snip part of the screen with ⌃⌘⇧4: a chart, a problem in a PDF, a diagram, a photo.
- ⌘⇧4 works too. Hush picks up the screenshot it saves.
- The answer lands in the menu bar, the same way as Paste.
Both
- ⌃⌥H turns both off. Press it again and they come back.
- ⌃⌥C copies the last answer.
- Every answer, from Paste or Cut, counts toward the same monthly total.
- Name your API key and each answer shows which key it used.
Install the beta
This beta isn't signed by Apple yet, so macOS asks you to confirm it once.
Open the download and drag Hush to Applications.
Open it from Applications, not from the download window.
Open Hush. macOS says it can't check it.
Click Done.
Open System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click Open Anyway.
Hush opens and shows you around: sign in with your email, start your free week, and allow it to read your copies and screenshots.
Discreet by design

Answers are shared between Paste (copied text) and Cut (screenshots), in any mix. 2,000 means 2,000 in total, not 2,000 of each.
Every plan, Tester included, needs your own API key with credits on it. Your AI provider charges those credits for each answer, separately from Hush.
Questions
What does Hush read?
Only what you copy and new screenshots in your screenshots folder, and only while Hush is on. It doesn't watch your screen, read your other files, or see what you type. It skips copies your password manager marks as private.
Where do answers come from?
From your own model. Hush works with your API key from Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (GPT), Google (Gemini) or OpenRouter. Hush sends your snippet straight to the model you picked and puts the answer in the menu bar. Hush walks you through getting a key the first time you open it.
Is anything stored?
Not what you ask. Each answer is gone when the next one arrives, unless you turn on history, which stays on your Mac. Hush's server keeps your email, your plan and how many answers you've used.
Is there a Windows version?
Not yet. Hush is Mac only for now, on macOS 13 or later with Apple silicon. Windows 11 is coming later.
